TOPIC 8 (IMPLICATIONS TRENDS AND ISSUES AND ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE)

IMPLICATIONS OF TRENDS AND ISSUES IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

Negatif – Pengguna perlu memuat turun aplikasi QR Code sebelum menggunakannya.

Jadi, kita tetap perlu cetak tiket.

Akhir sekali, isu keselamatan. Keselamatan disetiap negara perlu diperketatkan dengan apa cara sekalipun kerana kesiapsediaan sesebuah tempat memberikan perlindungan kepada pengunjung menjadi aspek penerimaan lebih ramai pengunjung.

The Concept of Travel and Tourism from Islamic Perspective

In Islamic history, travelling by Prophet Muhammad to spread the Islamic teaching has encouraged Muslim tourists to travel to learn more about Islamic thought and civilization

The concept of Islamic Tourism also can be considered as ‘ibadah and Da’wah where tourists travel from one place to another place is being seen as a blessing from God by avoid any wrongdoings during the travel. Any other words it can also be translated as religious tourism, spiritual tourism and cultural tourism as well as the claims that characteristic of Islamic tourism itself are flexible, rational, simple and balanced.

Furthermore, an Islamic tourism concept also brewed with economic concept, cultural concept and religion conservative concept. Factors that need to be emphasized in promoting Muslim destinations include prayer time, Halal food destinations and travel tips on Muslim conduct.

TOPIC 7 - ISSUES AND TRENDS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

IDENTIFY ISSUES AND TRENDS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

There are many trends in tourism and hospitality industry. With the good technology now, this industry also get involved with this trends. The first trends in this industry is applying QR code when buy things, access some web and check in hotel. Then, E-ticketing which is tourists can got their tickets just from online and through online web page. Next is online transaction, usually used when tourists want to check in hotel, buy things and got ticket. Other than that is key card. The key card are usually used when we want to enter our hotel room or maybe to enter theme park and many more. The last one is, online apps. Online apps are very popular nowadays. You can get what you want only from that apps that you download from your smartphone. An example, if you want to go somewhere, you can use Waze to show you the directions to the locations. Besides, you can choose the best hotel by doing comparison using popular apps like Trivago and also Traveloka.

There are many issues in this industry too. The first one is safety. Wherever we go, the first things we need to thinks is our safety because we don’t know what danger are waiting for us at the destination. So, before we go to holiday, survey and take note about the destinations. The next one is healthy. We need to take care our health wherever we go. Now, many epidemics are spread like zika, rabbies and HFMD. So, we need to avoid this epidemics by protect ourself from going the place where is the epidemics spread. Lastly, the environment ore one of the common issues in tourism and hospitality industry. Sometimes, the place we visit are not our expectations and it can disappointed ourself. Usually, the environment are dirty and full of rubbish. So, we need to change this stigma so that we can have a happy holiday.

TOPIC 4

The Motivation of Travelling from Islamic Perspective

A process of internal psychological factors (needs, wants, and goals) generating an uncomfortable level of tension within the minds and bodies of individuals. Islamic religion also encourages its people to travel. as contained in a hadith :

Passage of al-Quran and Hadis related to tourism

Surah Al-An’Am: 11

The Importance of Providing Excellent Service to Guests

The importance of providing excellent service to guests is the satisfaction of the guests. When guests are satisfied, they will come again and will promote it to others. Then the market will growing, there is a healthy competition between the owners. When there are many good services, many guests will come and increase the economy of the sector. When the economy increases, the owners and employees are satisfied and will make better.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR TOURISM IN A GREEN ECONOMY

The recent economic crisis situation could potentially be utilized as an opportunity to introduce green investment in the economics.

-SIZING AND GROWTH OF SECTOR

The tourism economy represents 5% of world GDP and contributes to about 8% of total employment. Tourism also one of five top export earners in over 150 countries and in 60 it is the number one export and with growing developing country participant ,tourism has become a major contributor to their country growth. It is the main source of foreign exchange for one third of developing countries. 4 billions estimated domestic arrivals and 940 millions international tourists were recorded.

-CHANGING CONSUMER PATTERNS

Tourist choices are increasingly influenced by sustainability considerations. Then the surveyed said that environmentally friendly tourism is a consideration  when travelling. CEDS and TIES  found that a majority of international tourists are interested in the social, cultural and environmental issues to the destinations they visit. The first choice experiments conducted in Uganda conclude that biodiversity attributes increase the willingness to visit tourism attraction, independently of other factors. It is estimated that global spending on ecotourism is increasing at a higher rate than the industry-wide average growth. Nature-based tourism is an important economic component of the entire tourism market.

-POTENTIAL FOR POVERTY REDUCTION AND SOCIAL AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

·         POVERTY REDUCTION

The tourism sector has potential to make a substantial contribution to the achievement of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals (UNWTO 2007). Tourism to poor countries is also growing faster. They think that making tourism more sustainable can create stronger linkages with the local economy, increasing local development potential. The relationship between tourism and poverty reduction is closely related like example can be found in Jamaica in 1996,the Farmers Programme began with 10 farmer supplying 2 hotels. By 2004,there were 80 farmer supplying hotels across the island.

·         DECENT WORK

-decent work is captured in four strategic objectives which underpin its substainability:-

o   Fundamental principles and rights at work and international labour standard.

o   Employment and income opportunities.

o   Social protection and social security.

o   Social dialogue and tripartism.

These objectives hold for all workers, woman and men. They acknowledge the importance of   having a skilled, motivated and satisfied workforce.

·         WOMEN AND DISADVANTAGED GROUP

The development of tourism provides a significant opportunity for woman and other disadvantaged group to become producers of tourism services. Data reported by ILO and analysed in the UNIFEM and UNWTO Global Report on woman in Tourism 2010,show that woman are much better off in the tourism sector than in other economic areas.
